Cristiano Ronaldo Takes Ankle Injury Tests

Today, Cristiano Ronaldo will undergo tests for an ankle injury he sustained during Sunday’s 2-2 Clasico draw with Barcelona. The Real Madrid striker knocked his ankle while netting an equaliser in the 14th minute of the match. Dutch Gaming Authority Says ‘No’ to Loot Boxes

Although the controversy concerning loot boxes has died down in the past few weeks, political authorities across the globe continue to investigate the online gaming practice. On Thursday, the Dutch Gaming Authority ruled that loot boxes constituted gambling. The regulator warned and gave video game developers a deadline of 20 June 2018, to remove such features from their games. A plot to kill at Las Vegas casino

United States – A man from Ohio has been arrested by federal authorities in the U.S after threatening to kill his wife and stage a ‘historic’ mass shooting at a Las Vegas casino, and church along the strip. The Cuyahoga Falls man, Wei Li, sent a series of text messages threatening his estranged wife based in Las Vegas. Li is facing charges of interstate threatening communications and destruction of evidence. Read more here

Caesars Entertainment to expand in Indiana post-bankruptcy

SA gambling revenue projected to reach R35bn in 2021

On Wednesday, the global auditing firm, PwC released its sixth edition of the gambling outlook for South Africa: 2017-2021. According to the report, South Africa’s gross gambling revenues (GGR) might grow from last year’s R27 billion to R35bn in 2021. A 5.4% compound annual increase is projected in gambling taxes and levies. Read more here

Bangladesh Cricket Board clarifies cricketers’ casino visit

CROWN CASINO ACCUSED OF TAMPERING WITH SLOT MACHINES

Crown Melbourne’s Crown Casino is in boiling water over allegations of deliberately tampering with slot machines to decrease the chances of players winning.

Three anonymous whistle-blowers – who claim to be Crown Casino’s ex-employees – made these serious allegations on a video interview tabled by Tasmanian politician and independent MP Andrew Wilkie. The 30-minute heavily-filtered footage was recorded at the Australian federal parliament on Wednesday.  The former employees also revealed allegations of drug use and domestic violence on Crown’s premises.
